As part of the EQUIP scheme Research IT are offering UCD Researchers access to a 2 year pilot research data Cloud storage offering via Dropbox for Research (scheduled to end September 2025). The pilot is designed to ascertain initial interest among the UCD Research community.

What is the UCD Dropbox for Research Pilot?

As part of the EQUIP scheme Research IT are offering UCD Researchers access to a 2 year pilot research data Cloud storage offering via Dropbox for Research (scheduled to end September 2025). The pilot is designed to ascertain initial interest among the UCD Research community.

This service is designed to help research groups with their data during the “active” part of the research data lifecycle which occurs when researchers are gathering and analysing large amounts of  raw data. With Dropbox for Research researchers will be able to collaborate easily with external researchers via sending a link or sharing the data directly as part of the group.

What Dropbox for Research is NOT suitable for

  • Sensitive data
  • For use as a long-term archiving tool
  • As a long term data repository
  • Server or scientific instrumental backup solution
