The James G. Lacy Award was set up in honour of UCD Professor Emeritus Jim Lacy, through a donation by Liam Madden to the UCD Foundation. The award is not specific to students in Electronic & Electrical Engineering. The value of the award is €1,000, and it will be conferred at the EGA Awards ceremony in September.

The Award is presented to the best Master of Engineering (ME) project that demonstrates excellence in the innovative application of Electrical Engineering principles within the full range of disciplines of Engineering:

Biosystems, Biomedical, Chemical, Civil, Computer Engineering, Electrical, Electronic, Energy, Mechanical

The process for making the award is that ME Programme Coordinators are invited to make not more than two nominations in May each year. A committee chaired by the College Principal decides on the final winning project.

James G Lacy Award for Excellence in Masters of Engineering Project

UCD Engineering Graduates Association supports excellence in engineering by annually awarding EGA Gold Medals to the graduating students in each of the Bachelor of Engineering degrees who demonstrate excellence among their peers in undergraduate study and research. The EGA Gold Medal for Electrical Engineering is sponsored by Airtricity, and the EGA Gold Medal for Electronic Engineering is sponsored by S3.

Instituted in 2016, the Intel Ireland Scholarship grants €3000 to each of four students entering the ME Electronic & Computer Engineering programme.  The four awardees are chosen by a committee consisting of the Head of School, the Head of Subject and the ME Programme Coordinator.  This committee will be primarily guided by GPA results at the end of the 3rd Stage but may take account of 2nd Stage GPA results, especially in the case of students spending their 3rd Year abroad.

Instituted in 2016, the Analog Devices Ireland Scholarships are:

• €2000 to one 3rd-year student continuing to BE Electronic  or ME Electronic & Computer Engineering (selected by interview from top 3 students on GPA).
• €2000 to one student in 4th year of ME Electronic & Computer Engineering (selected by interview from top 3 students on GPA).
• €2000 for best degree result in ME Electronic & Computer Engineering.

Instituted in 2012, the Cylon Award recognises outstanding project work conducted by graduating students in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.

Teaching assistants are central to the delivery of our teaching programme. At the end of each semester we recognize one teaching assistant who has made an outstanding contribution to teaching activities, based on student feedback.
