Professor Anthony Brabazon is currently Associate Dean at the UCD Smurfit School of Business and a Professor of Accounting. He is currently the Director of FMC2 and works in the area of Trading. His primary research interests concern the development of natural computing theory and the application of natural computing algorithms to real-world problems, particularly in the domain of finance. He is co-founder and co-director, with Dr. Michael O’Neill, of the Natural Computing Research and Applications Group at UCD (see http://ncra.ucd.ie). The NCRA engages in both basic and applied research in natural computing methodologies and is the only dedicated natural computing research facility in Ireland.
Recent publications include four edited volumes on natural computing in computational finance published by Springer-Verlag and multiple journal and conference papers. Anthony is independently ranked in the top 25 researchers of all time in his field (top 0.4% in a community of over 6000 researchers) and has over 200 publications. Anthony has organised a number of conferences including GECCO 2011 in Dublin (co-organised with Michael O’ Neill and Irene Ward), and was the programme chair of the 5th European workshop of EvoFIN “The European Event on Evolutionary and Natural Computation in Finance and Economics” held in Istanbul in 2011.
